Downfall

Don't let the subtitles put you off this movie, it's an intriguing portrayal of the last few days in the Bunker with Hitler and his closest supporters. Bruno Ganz is very believable as the german dictator steadfastly refusing to believe he's losing the war; despite the shelling going on above the bunker.

The polar opposite of light entertainment, this film gives what I fear is a scarily accurate picture of this section of history. The truly interesting thing is that the film doesn't force you into any judgement about Hitler, it portrays him as a well mannered, quiet, determined man who commands great respect. It's not till much later that his horrific ideas start to come through.

Watch This: for another view point on Hitler.

Guess Who.....

A completely predictable, not very original story about a daughter bringing her future husband back to meet her parents, with the added complication that he's white and she's black. The story plays heavily on the race issue but with a lot of humour. The critics slated this movie, but for my money if you want light entertainment you couldn't go far wrong, I laughed all the way through.

Watch This If: You've ever wondered what Demi sees in Ashton

Watch Out For: The Carting race between Bernie Mac and Ashton - extremely funny.

Hitch

This film has the best first twenty minutes of any I've seen in a long time. Funny, engaging, entertaining and stylish. Unfortunately just as you're settling in for a great film it nose dives. There just isn't enough material in the idea to keep it going for a full film. Still it's probably worth watching, providing you can stomach the sickly cheesy and highly predictable ending.

Watch This If: You've got nothing better to do

Watch Out For: The gadgets in Hitch's apartment - bachelors all over the world will turn green with envy.
